Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence for Real World Results

Artificial Intelligence is probably the most misunderstood and the most hyped word during the pandemic years! The expectations are high and getting to real world results are not easy.

Reality Check

Machines don't have human brains & nervous systems - In fact human intelligence is not just brains but the brain working with the combination of all sensory perceptions, learnings from past and most importantly intuition. For real world applications of AI, the computer needs to be learning as fast as the human brain - billions of bytes of data (video, voice, text) to be processed, annotated and stored with ability to access it within milliseconds when needed.

AI Use Case

Let's consider a simple computer program which looks at your IP address, and history of past searches and offers you a promotion ticket for a trip from Sydney to Brisbane. This is enabled by simple set of instructions to the computer - a) Check location city of IP and set origin city b) Check top cities , which are not origin, in browser searches and set destination c) Find best price for travel between origin and destination d) Show the fare and promotion text in the ad space on the "Metaverse" - any digital media. e) Generate a voice message and broadcast to their preferred channel on the offer. f) If user does not take offer for 3 days, refresh ad with the next city. Is this artificial intelligence? By definition, Yes! Natural language processing and machine learning are involved in this process. The key factor here is the reliability of the data used by machine to make decisions. If the IP address is under a proxy or user does not give permissions to access their data or fare search engines don't give best results, the use case will fail.
